2023-2024 Season Recap

The 2023-2024 regular season has come to end for the Tigers, and what a fun year it was! With lots of new faces we had a lot to learn, and we got better with each and every tournament. We ended the season 5-11 picking up those 5 wins against Drexel(2x),Yeshiva, BU, and Syracuse. Our top point scorers this season were Martin Hoffnagle (12pts), Pat Gulledge (11pts), and Riley Redmon (9pts). Jack Ryan also made a return for the second semester adding 9 points in 9 games and being the only player to score a point-a-game. Everyone contributed this year with all 13 players putting up points throughout the year. Goalie Colby Benway ended the year with a 4.41 GAA, .808 save percentage, and 1 shutout seeing an average of 23 shots per game.

With only 4 players having ECRHA experience coming into this season, we saw massive growth and success and look forward to proving ourselves even more next season! While we eagerly await our final standings to see if we will make playoffs, we are already gearing up for next season in anticipation of a nationals run with many players being seniors.

To end, we would like to congratulate senior Noah Goldie on graduating this spring. He joined the Tigers late in his career, but he was an important piece of the team this year and we wish him luck after graduation!

Preseason weekend

Roller hockey is back! Opening weekend for the ECRHA happened October 9th and 10th in Feasterville, PA where the RIT Roller hockey team met for the first time as a full team. With 6 new skaters, there were some growing pains as everyone got used to the ECRHA. We had 1 win and 3 losses over the weekend as we beat Boston University and lost to Temple and Quinnipiac twice. New faces and tired legs lead to breakdowns, but some shining moments from everyone left a positive feeling in the locker room as we headed home Sunday. Newcomer Riley Redmon notched 5 goals over the weekend, and rookie defenseman Mike Pennington netted the first goal of his roller hockey career. Veteran returner Pat Gulledge had two goals while seeing heavy defense played on him up and down the court, and veteran Defenseman Martin Hoffnagle had a goal and 7 helpers as he quarterbacked the breakout all weekend. Honorary rookie Ben Bellantoni slapped in 2 goals on the power play against Temple for the first goals of his career as well. Goalie Colby Benway saw 111 shots letting in 21 goals in 4 games this weekend – the most shots against and saves of any D3 goalie at the tournament.

We will be gearing up for the next tournament, our first regular season one, November 6th and 7th in Old Bethpage.

2023-2024 Season

Roller hockey fans – its time! The 2023-2024 NCHRA season is starting to take shape. While we wait for more information from the league, we are doing everything we can to prepare for a great season. We will be holding tryouts in the coming weeks to determine the group that will travel to tournaments for the upcoming season. If you are interested in trying out, be sure to contact the team representative at cdb3832@g.rit.edu and look out for an email regarding tryout information. Keep an eye on the ECRHA and NCRHA websites for any updates on the 2023-2024 season, and we look forward to seeing everyone on the court!

COVID-19 and the NCRHA

We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this pandemic, and we offer our support to anyone suffering or affected by COVID-19. While Rochester and New York were hit hard by the virus, our team has been lucky enough to stay healthy. The pandemic has changed everyone’s lives, so we want to give an update about the state of roller hockey and our team.

The NCRHA canceled the 2020 national tournament, but there are contingency plans in place. The league and its participants will vote on a course of action for replacing the 2020 nationals and giving a fair shot at this year’s seniors to make one last run at a championship; We will have more updates on this as voting happens.

We are looking forward to next year’s season with hope, and we are excited to start rolling again soon. We urge everyone to stay home and continue staying safe, and we will see you on the court soon. #RollIT
